![]() ![]() ![]() We could not decide between the first and last film poster sketches, as they were both so similar. Therefore, we have decided we will use a mixture of both designs and whichever image we choose not to use, we will include in the magazine. We have chosen not to use any features from the second design as we did not feel that is represented our film enough. |
We liked this film poster design as the main image represented the main aspects of our film. The manor relates to the film title 'Oak Manor' and shows the audience that this is where the film will mostly be located, while the characters standing in front of the house reveal to the audience that these are the protagonists without actually showing who they are. The typography of the title further relates to the horror genre through the thin, pointed letters. We have also included many typical conventions on our poster, for example, the release date, billing block and production company. We believe that this poster does not give away too much about the film and also creates a sense of enigma through the questions raised, for example, 'why are they here'? The use of trees in the image suggests to the audience that the house is isolated and therefore again tells the audience that this is a horror film. We have not yet included a tagline on this poster, as we believe it needs to be carefully selected, and therefore we will conduct a vox pop to find out what tagline we should use. We liked this film poster design as it reveals to the audience what the film is about. However, we do not think that our main image relates directly to the name of our film like in the first design and therefore could be slightly misleading or confusing to the audience. Furthermore, this main image potentially give away too much of the plot, as it tells the audience who gets posessed. This removes any sense of enigma due to the fact that the audience would go into the film knowing that the house is haunted and who is going to be posessed. The typography of the film title again represents the horror genre with it's blood-like appearance. We have also included many typical conventions on our poster, for example, the release date, billing block and production company. We have not yet included a tagline on this poster, as we believe it needs to be carefully selected and therefore we will conduct a vox pop to find out what tag line we should use. We really liked this film poster design for similar reasons to the first poster design. The main image clearly relates to the film title and the trees highlight the isolated feeling. However, we feel that this poster gives away even less of the narrative than the first poster as the audience doesn't even know who the main characters are. We believe that this makes it feel much more tense and the audience will going into the film knowing very little. The typoography of the title is very similar to the above two posters, however we have not included the eye effect in the 'O', as we feel that this did not relate to our film largely. By showing the steps leading up to the house, we have insinuated that the characters will face a challenge. We have also included many typical conventions on our poster, for example, the release date, billing block and production company. We have not yet included a tagline on this poster, as we believe it needs to be carefully selected and therefore we will conduct a vox pop to find out what tag like we should use. |
